PURPOSE:To perform a variation cerrection for the quantity of a fluorescent lamp light independent of the lightness of an original by providing an over photoirradiation preventing plate, extending in a perpendicular direction to the tube axis of the fluorescent lamp, for interrupting a light which is reflected and diffused from the surface of an original by the tube surface of the fluorescent lamp and infiltrates into an AGC reference surface. CONSTITUTION:The AGC reference surface is installed between an original plane glass plate 14 and a frame 15, and the original 100 to be read by the fluorescent lamp 11 is sent on the glass plate 14. According to the set state of the original 100, the original surface of the original 100 and the reference surface 12 are positioned in a line along the tube axis of the fluorescent lamp 11. The over photoirradiation preventing plate 13 is fixed to the original and a supporting frame 16 between the reference surface 12 and the original surface, and extends in the perpendicular direction to the tube axis of the fluorescent lamp 11, and further, is closes to or is in contact with the glass plate 14. A diffused light reflected by the original is interrupted by the preventing plate 13, and an infiltration into the reference surface 12 is prevented. Accordingly, the variation correction for the quantity of the fluorescent lamp light independent of the lightness of the original can be performed.
