PURPOSE:To improve coersive force characteristics of a permanent magnet by a method where gallium as an alloy element is contained in a rare earth iron permanent magnet, 70 wt% or more of such gallium being contained in the Fe rich phase and including the gallium in the Fe rich phase as the substitutive atom. CONSTITUTION:A three phase structure composed of a tetragonal ferromagnetic Fe rich phase mainly composed of Fe, a tetragonal non-magnetic B rich phase and a cubic non-magnetic R righ phase is formed in a permanent magnet. Gallium is contained an alloy element in such a permanent magnet and 70 wt% or more of such gallium is contained in the Fe rich phase. Gallium is included in such Fe rich phase as a substitutive atom and thereby the coersive force of permanent magnet can be improved. Moreover, such coersice force may be improved by including at least 70 wt% or more of gallium in the alloy in the Fe rich phase. |
