PURPOSE:To enable non-destructive measurement of a specimen, by filling a recess to be measured with radioactive isotope or material containing it and measuring intensity of the ratio-active rays emanating from its periphery. CONSTITUTION:A cylindrical recess is perforated on a flat-plate work 1 and adhesive resin 2 mixed with radioactive isotope (RI) is filled to solidify. And, the work 1 is put between jigs 3, 4 of the measuring apparatus. The jig 4 is equipped with a collimator 5 and among (R)-rays emanated from the resin 2, those that incident perpendicular to the collimator 5 are allowed to pass. These gamma-rays are irradiated into a scintillator for light emission. And, light detectors 7 (7-1-7-n) are located in series distant from the scintillator 6 by a length of 'd'. Thus, by arranging the collimator 6 and light dectors 7 2-dimensionally, sectional areas can be obtained. And, if content of the RI is known, total quantity of the radic-active rays and volume of the recess can be known from an area of frequency distribution function and the recess depth can also be calculated.
