PURPOSE:To correctly detect an actual tape travelling quantity by being composed of a means to sample a pilot signal at the time of travelling a tape, a means to count the tape travelling quantity based upon the sampled pilot signal and a means to display the tape travelling quantity. CONSTITUTION:A pilot signal band pass filter 16 permits only one signal out of given pilot signals f1-f4. In such a case, the pilot signal f1 outputted from the pilot signal band pass filter 16 is, for example, outputted at every 1/15sec. After a pilot signal f1 is amplified by an amplifier 17 and smoothed by a smoothing circuit composed of a resistance 18 and a capacitor 19, the signal is given to a one-shot multivibrator 20, the one-shot multivibrator 20 generates the pulse at every 1/15sec, the pulse is given to a counter 8, 15-frequency dividing is executed, thereby, being able to obtain the pulse at every one second. Thus, the tape travelling quantity at the time of reproduction can be displayed by the correct time at an indicator 9.
