The present invention relates to a stator, consisting of a laminated core, of a turbogenerator, winding bars (8) of the stator winding being arranged in the slots between teeth (1a), which winding bars (8) are secured in the radial direction inter alia by means of slot closure wedges which are held in cutouts (1b) in the teeth (1a). According to the invention, the teeth (1a) of the stator are braced with respect to one another by means of wedge arrangements (2a, 2b, 2c) which act predominantly in the circumferential direction. This allows the natural frequency (eigen frequency) of the stator to be increased and to be influenced within specific limits. The wedge arrangements (2a, 2b, 2c) which are used for bracing are preferably at the same time used as slot closure wedges on which the winding bars (10) are supported in a manner known per se. The wedge arrangement (2a, 2b, 2c) is split in three and consists of two outer slot wedges (2a, 2c) and one inner driving wedge (2b) which preferably has an approximately rhomboid cross-section with a flatted top and bottom. <IMAGE>
