PURPOSE:To obtain the title metallic carrier base body wherein the components are not dislocated and without causing noises by providing a copper-plated film or copper foil on the abutting surfaces of a corrugated metallic strip and a flat metallic strip, laminating the strips, packing the laminate in a casing, and heating the casing to braze the abutting surfaces. CONSTITUTION:The copper-plated film 4 having about 3mum thickness is provided on at least one surface of at least one strip at the laminated abutting surfaces between the corrugated metallic strip 3 and the flat metallic strip 2, or copper foil 5 having about 0.006mm thickness is laid over, and the strips are laminated in stages or spirally. Then the laminate is compactly charged in the cylindrical casing 6 of stainless steel, the casing is heated to about 1,200 deg.C to melt the copper, and the laminated abutting surfaces are brazed and fixed. Brazing and fixing are thus carried out very easily and surely, and the metallic carrier base body extremely useful especially for a catalyst for purifying the exhaust gas of automobiles is obtained. |
