PURPOSE:To provide a low hydrogen type coated arc electrode having high creep strength by adding specific ratios of Cr, Mo, V, Nb, Ni, and W to one or both of a core wire or coating material, incorporating a specific ratio of Mg, metallic carbonate, etc., into the coating material and specifying the contents of Mo and W within a prescribed range. CONSTITUTION:The components to be added to either one or both of the core wire or coating material are composed of Cr; 8.5<=Cr in core wire + Cr in the coating material X 0.35<=11wt% Mo; 0.8<=Mo in the core wire + Mo in the coating material X 0.3<=2.5%, V; 0.02<=V in the core wire + V in the coating material X 0.28<=0.22%, Nb; 0.02<=Nb in the core wire + Nb in the coating material X 0.20<=0.11%, Ni; 0.05<=Ni in the core wire + Ni in the coating material X 0.35<=1.9% and W; 0.2<=W in the core wire + W in the coating material X 0.35<=2. Further the coating material contg. 0.8-4.5wt% Mg, 10-70% metallic carbonate and 5-30% metallic fluoride is prepd. The relation between the contents of Mo and W is specified within the range enclosed by the point A, point B, point C and point D of the figure 1.
