PURPOSE:To improve the degree of freedom in selection of a final reduction gear ratio, by interposing an idler gear and a reduction gear between an output gear being as one body with an output shaft out of a planetary gear shifting mechanism and a differential mechanism where the rotation is transferred. CONSTITUTION:At an automatic trans-axle consisting of a torque converter 12 where rotation of a transverse engine 10 is inputted, a planetary gear shifter 14 and a differential mechanism 16, an output shaft 30 out of the gear shifting mechanism 14 is constituted of a hollow shaft, and this part 30 is set up in an outer circumference of an input shaft 26 connecting the torque converter 14 to the gear shifting mechanism 14. And, an output gear 32 as one body with this output shaft 30 is set up between the torque converter 12 and the planetary gear shifting mechanism 14. In this case, transmission of rotation to the differential mechanism 16 from the output shaft 32 is made so as to be carried out via an idler gear 34 to be engaged with the output gear 32 and a reduction gear 36 to be engaged with a ring gear 38 of the differential mechanism 16 to be solidly rotated with this gear 34.
