PURPOSE:To obtain sintered alloy superior in characteristics such as high temp. strength and wear resistance, by heating and melting compact of lubricant powder such as lead and material iron powder contg. low m.p. composed of phosphide and sintering it to a prescribed porocity or below. CONSTITUTION:Mixed powder of lubricative powder of lead, manganese sulfide, etc., and material iron powder contg. low m.p. compd. such as copper phosphide, triiron monophosphide is press formed to compact (formed body). Compsn. of the material iron powder composed of alloy copper powder contg. by weight 2.5-25% Cr, 0.2-3.0% C, and the low m.p. alloy powder under 0.1-0.8% P in mixed powder is desirable. Next, the compact is heated to temp. higher than m.p. of the compact by 0-50 deg.C to carry out liquid phase sintering. Lubricative substances such as lead and manganese sulfide are dispersed in sintered alloy obtd., in such a way and wear resistance is improved without deteriorating strength of matrix under high temp.
