CASTING METHOD FOR FIBER REINFORCED METALLIC BODY

PURPOSE:To obtain a defectless fiber reinforced metallic body by specifying the fiber volumetric rate and preheating temp. of fiber moldings and approximately uniformly compressing the entire part of the fiber moldings thereby making the density uniform and preventing partial failure. CONSTITUTION:The fiber volumetric ate of the fiber moldings F prior to casting is set at 8-35% and the respective fiber molding F preheated to 50-300 deg.C is mounted to respective cores 41. The moldings F are kept at 50-300 deg.C with is the preheating temp. thereof via the cores 41 by heaters H and the cooling water of cooling water paths Wc. THe maintenance of the preheating temp. of the moldings F is continued during casting and consequently until the molten metal packed into the fiber moldings F starts solidifying. The entire part of the fiber moldings is thus uniformly compressed by the packing pressure of the molten metal by which the density is made uniform and the partial failure is prevented. The defectless fiber reinforced metallic body is thus obtd.
