PURPOSE:To obtain a plastic light transmission fiber having a good heat- resisting property by constituting a core component from a polymer composed of styrene contg. 5-50wt% a specific methacrylate as a main component, and a shell component from a polymer having refractive index less than that of the core component by 3%. CONSTITUTION:The core component contains the polymer composed of styrene polymer contg. 5-50wt% methacrylate having 8-20C alicyclic hydrocarbon in an ester part as the main component. The shell component contains the polymer having refractive index less than that of the core component by 3%. The prescribed methacrylate is formed by effecting an esterification of methacrylic acid or its acid chloride with the alicyclic hydrocarbon or the monool shown by the formula ROH. As the shell component, the transparent polymer having refractive index less than that of the core component by at least 3% such as the transparent polymer and the fluororubber is used. The ratio of the core component to the shell component is about (70:30)-(98:2), preferably about (80:20)-(95:5). |
