PURPOSE:To readily and effectively obtain the titled compound useful as a key intermediate for medicines, e.g. antitumor agent, etc., by bringing an allyl alpha-substituted methyl beta-ketocarboxylate into contact with a platinum group metal salt in the presence of an inert organic medium. CONSTITUTION:A compound expressed by formula I [R<1> and R<2> are 1-10C (substituted) hydrocarbon group or together link to form a ring; R<3> is 2-10C acyl or 1-10C sulfonyl; R<4>-R<8> are H, 1-10C hydrocarbon group or aromatic hydrocarbon group] is brought into contact with a platinum group metal or complex, e.g. phosphine of palladium or phosphite complex, in the presence of an inert organic medium, preferably THF or acetonitrile, at -78 deg.C - the boiling point of the solvent used, preferably 0 deg.C - room temperature to afford the aimed compound expressed by formula II. The amount of the platinum group metal salt or complex to be used is preferably 0.001-30mol%, particularly 0.1-10mol% based on the compound expressed by formula I. |
