PURPOSE:To improve the deterioration in reproduction by read-out light by incorporating a quencher into the compsn. of a dye consisting of a specific compd. CONSTITUTION:The dye in a recording layer of an optical recording medium for a heat mode consists of the compd. expressed by the formula and a quencher is incorporated into the compsn. of the dye. A resin can be incorporated into said compsn. and such resin and dye can be incorporated therein at a weight ratio over a wide range of 1:0.1-100 by weight. A transition chelate compd. is preferable as the quencher to be incorporated into said recording layer. The deterioration in reproduction of the S/N ratio owing to repetitive irradiation of read-out light is thus decreased. The resistance to light when preserved in a bright room is improved as well. Z in the formula denotes the atomic group necessary for perfecting an indolenyl group, R1 denotes an alkyl group, etc., L1 and L2 denote a methine group, R2 denotes a monovalent group and X<-> denotes an anion. l Denotes 1-3, k 0-5, n 0 or 1. |
