<p>An improved tool for builders or like tradesmen or handymen. The tool has a first part (1) and a second part (3). The first part (1) and the second part (3) have respective straight edge surfaces (25 and 27). The first part (1) and the second part (3) can be retained to each other and can be relatively moved to each other so that the overall lenght of the first part (1) and the second part (3) can be varied whilst maintaining a straight edge between said first part (1) and said second part (3). Level read out means (17) and (19) are provided. The tool provides for an expanding straight edge and for an expanding level. The tool can be used for other purposes as well.</p> |
