PURPOSE:To prevent a setting failure due to inaccuracy in a thread part of a screw shaft from occurring, by constituting this screw shaft to be shiftable in an axial perpendicular direction to a first support member. CONSTITUTION:When a steering shaft 10 is turned clockwise, a second support member 22 moves to the left to a first support member 21, and a second shaft 12 enters a first shaft 11, thus length of the steering shaft 10 is shortened. When a motor is reversed, the steering shaft 10 becomes extended by reverse operation against this motor rotation. At the time of adjustment for the length of the steering shaft 10, relative movements in an axial perpendicular direction between an axial core of a screw shaft 40 and a nut member 41 due to inaccuracy in a thread part 40b in the screw shaft 40 is absorbed by what the screw shaft 40 moves in the axial perpendicular direction to the first support member 21 and the cover 24 tightly attached to this member 21. |
