A lever and cam mechanism transfers a button type article speedily from one holder to another in stepwise rotating heads on machines for automatically machining the articles on both sides. An ejector rod moves the article axially at a controlled speed. Quick action, mechanism is suitable for axial or radial action machine and is suitable for transfers of is not >10 mm in 2-10 x 10-2 secs.
