PURPOSE:To increase effectively the executing speed of a program and also to increase a work area for array conversion, etc., by deleting automatically a comment row in a prescribed program in response to a deleting instruction. CONSTITUTION:When the key data supplied from a key input means 1 is judged as a comment row detecting instruction, a program is read successively by an amount equal to a row from the head of a text area 12 of a program storage device 10. When this program is judged as a comment row, the program rows branched to the comment row are searched out of the area 12 based on the row numbers 14-1 and 14-2. If a program row branched to a comment row is detected, the branching destination of the program row is changed into a row following to the comment row. Furthermore, the changing process of the branching destination is repeated until no program row exists any more in case a program row branched to said comment row from another row is detected.
