<p>NEW MATERIAL:1-Alkyl-6-fluoro-7-nitroquinoline-2(1H)-one. EXAMPLE:6-Fluoro-1-methyl-7-nitroquinoline-2(1H)-one. USE:It is used as a synthetic intermediate of tetrahydrophthalimide derivatives which has herbicidal action against a wide variety of weeds without chemical injury to major crops such as corn, wheat, rice plant, soybean and cotton. PREPARATION:The selective nitration of 1-alkyl-6-fluoroquinoline-2(1H)-one in the 7-position on the quinoline ring is carried out with a sulfuric-nitric mixed acid at -10-10 deg.C to give a compound of formula I.</p> |
