PURPOSE:To obtain a large film thickness, by electrostatically adhering powdery paint layers to the surface of an article to be painted plural times by alternately changing the polarities thereof and forming a thick film from a plurality of powdery paint layers. CONSTITUTION:A spray gun 8 is connected to a powdery paint container 11 through a paint feed pipeline 14. A switch 5 is connected to a contact 6 to apply positive high voltage to the spray gun 8 and the powdery paint supplied to the spray gun 8 from a powdery paint container 11 is charged to positive polarity to be sprayed to the surface of an article 1 to be painted. Next, the switch 5 is changed over to be connected to a change-over contact 7 to apply negative high voltage to the spray gun 8 and the supplied powdery paint is painted so as to be superposed to the previously painted powdery paint layer having positive charge while charged negatively.
