PURPOSE:To prevent clogging and also hold reduction of a wetting liquid by supplying wetting liquid vapor to an air pipe of a head using an air flow with the help of a freely operating valve. CONSTITUTION:The title device is provided with an ink jet head 9 to discharge ink with an air flow, an air pipe 16 to supply an air flow to the ink jet head 9, a vessel containing wetting liquid 8 which is continuous to an air pipe 16 and a valve which opens and closes a connection with the air pipe 16 in response to the drive of the ink jet head 9. Therefore, during the drive of the head, the valve is closed to shut off wetting liquid in the vessel from the air pipe and during the shutdown of the head when possibilities of clogging are high, the valve is opened to supply vaporized wetting liquid in the vessel to the air chamber 10 of the head, thus preventing clogging by the drying of ink. |
