A system for modifying and utilizing hydrocarbonated fuels in the operation of internal-combustion engines in which increased fuel efficiency and a reduction in the contaminating combustion products produced are obtained. Hydrocarbonated fuels normally consumed entirely in the operation of internal-combustion engines are modified by means of the separation of lighter fractions, which are highly volatile, of a paraffinic nature and which burn ultrarapidly, from the fuels and by using substantially only the lighter fractions with the aim of supplying the internal-combustion engine, the heavier fractions being stored separately from the original source of hydrocarbonated fuel.
