PURPOSE:To record images with highly uniformized image quality, by a method wherein a pressing means for pressing a recording paper laminated with an ink doner film against a thermal head is adjusted to be different for different recording parts in consideration of surface conditions of the recording paper in each of the recording parts. CONSTITUTION:Three recording parts are provided, in each of which the ink doner film F laminated with the recording paper P is pressed against a back-up roller B and selectively melted by heating by the thermal head H, whereby the melted ink is transferred onto the paper P. The back-up roller B comprises an elastic layer of a rubber or the like provided on the surface of a metallic shaft, and the radii r1, r2, r3 thereof in the first, second and third recording parts are so set that r1>r2>r3. In this case, the width of a contact part (nip part) of the back-up roller and the thermal head, or contact area, is larger as the radius of the roller is larger, for the same contact pressure. Accordingly, the contact pressure per unit area is gradually raised, and transfer property is gradually enhanced, so that uniform recording can be performed. |
