PURPOSE:To allow a suspension device to be controlled so as to obtain excellent comfort in drive and grounding performance for a very rough road travelling by maintaining the controlling characteristics within its No.2 set value when a detected signal for the road surface condition finds itself to be for a very rough road. CONSTITUTION:A detecting device for tavelling condition consists of a speed detector 26, a stiring angle detector 28, an accelerometer 30, and a brake detector 32. Each of signals detected by these detectors, and a switching signal from an auto-manual selector switch 35 and a damping force selector switch 36 go to a control unit 37. A microcomputer 38 of the control unit 37 carries an interface circuit 38a, an arithmetic and logic unit 38, and a storage unit 38. When a detected signal finds a car travelling on a very rough road, in the command storage area 38c of the storage unit 38 for travelling on the very rough road, a command signal is stored to control shock absorbers of damping force 2a and 2b, 2c and 2d respectively for the front and rear wheels at their intermediate damping force M that is optimum for travelling on the very tough road. |
