PURPOSE:To improve an insulating characteristic between an external lead-out conductor and magnetic shielding plate even if the magnetic shielding gap of an MR element is made shorter by embedding an insulating layer into the point which does not corresponds to the MR element of a protective substrate and where the external lead-out conductor is provided. CONSTITUTION:There is a magnetic field bias line 10 formed in the part corresponding to the MR element 3 on an SiO2 film 7. The protective plate 11 in common used as the upper magnetic shielding plate consisting of Mn-Zn ferrite corresponds to external lead-out conductors 5, 6 and auxiliary magnetic pole 4. The insulating layer 12 consisting of low-melting glass is embedded in the region in proximity to the line 10. The insulating layer 14 consisting similarly of the low-melting glass is embedded into the Mn-Zn ferrite substrate 13 in common use as the lower magnetic shielding plate in the region similar to the region where the layer 12 is embedded. The ferrite protective substrates 11, 13 corresponding to the conductors 5, 6 are insulated and reinforced by the layers 12, 14. |
