PURPOSE:To execute firm and accurate engagement of the pinion and the ring gear, by forming a step with which the braking means is kept in contact till just before the engagement of the pinion and the ring gear in a starter of an internal-combustion engine. CONSTITUTION:A braking means comprises a braking member 5 and a ring-like spring 6. A step 7a is formed on the outer circumferenceof a plunger 7. As a result of the presence of this step 7a, the braking means is kept in contact with the plunger 7 till just before a pinion 17 becomes to be engaged with a ring gear 18. A starter motor 13 is passed with electricity as a result of contact of the movable contact point 9 and the fixed contact point 12 of the plunger 7, so as to rotate the pinion 17. Thus, firm and accurate engagement of the pinion and the ring gear is achieved. |
