Friction false twister

The friction false twister consists of two discs (1, 2) moved relative to one another in the overlap region and having parallel or slightly offset rotary shafts. The discs (1 and 2) are arranged with their shafts (3 and 4) in mountings (5 and 6) in such a way that the distance between the two discs and/or their position relative to the thread (14) running through between them is variable. The discs (1, 2) form a twisting region on the side facing the thread (14) running through. For this purpose, at least one of the two discs (1, 2) is movable on its shaft in a cardanic manner, in that it consists, for example, of a flexible or flexurally soft, but tension-resistant material. A pressure device (10) serves for ensuring good thread contact. As a result of the geometrical positioning of the pressure device (10), on the one hand, and of the disc mountings (5, 6), on the other hand, in relation to one another and as a result of the setting of other operating parameters, such as the thread speed, rotational speed of the discs (1, 2) and pressing force of the pressure device (10), optimal operating conditions, including the twisting direction, can be set. <IMAGE>
