PURPOSE:To reduce the noise component of a lift sensor and improve detection accuracy by arranging a fuel return pipe in order to prevent the transmission of the pressure waves of the fuel from a fuel injection valve which is not equipped with a lift sensor, onto a fuel injection valve equipped with a lift sensor. CONSTITUTION:The fuel effluence port of th fuel injection valve 19a in the first cylinder equipped with a lift sensor is directly connected to a return-pipe gathering part 34 through a fuel return pipe 33a. While, the fuel effluence ports of the fuel injection valves 19b-19d of the second - fourth cylinders which are not equipped with lift sensor are connected in series through return pipes 33b and 33c, and the injection valve 19d of the fourth cylinder is connected to the return-pipe gathering part 34 through a return pipe 33d. Therefore, the pressure waves of the fuel which are generated in the pressure chamber in each fuel injection valves 19b-19d are sufficiently damped in the return-pipe gathering part 34, and the transmission of the pressure waves to the fuel injection valve 19a through the return pipe 33a is suppressed, and the noise component of the lift sensor is reduced. |
