PURPOSE:To form a developer layer stably on a carrier through a leveling member by setting the contacting width between the carrier and leveling member to about 0.3 - about 8.0mm.. CONSTITUTION:Only the carrier 5 is provided with a driving system and the leveling member 4 is provided with no driving system; and the carrier 5 and leveling member 5 are pressed against each other and the leveling member 4 is driven by the carrier 5. The carrier 5 and leveling member 4 is equal in surface moving direction at their contacting part and also equal in peripheral speed. In this case, the contact width of the carrier 5 and leveling member 4 needs to be set to a proper value so that the leveling member 4 is driven by the carrier 5 securely and the developer layer is formed stably on the carrier 5 by the leveling member 4. Namely, the contacting width of the carrier 5 and leveling member 4 is set preferably to about 0.3 - about 0.8mm.. |
