PURPOSE:To enabling the switching of the function of a scale body between the connection time and non-connection time of a remote keyboard by detecting the connection state of the remote keyboard. CONSTITUTION:An electrical signal from a load cell 12 is inputted into an I/O port 6 through an amplifier 13 and an A/D converter 14 to make a CPU3 take in the data. On the other hand, a display interface 8 is controlled with the CPU3 to output a display data on a display unit 5. In addition, a remote keyboard 2 is equipped with a keyboard 17 having various keys and a key signal from the keyboard 17 is outputted to a connector 18 for body connection. The CPU3 checks the level state of a pin for detecting connection of a connector 16 through an I/O port 7 to detect the non-contact state of the keyboard 2 when the level state is high while detecting the contact state thereof 2 while it is low. In the latter case, the read contents of the program from a ROM4 is changed to alter the function of a power source switch button, for instance. Thus, the function of the scale body can be changed by the connection of the keyboard 2.
