PURPOSE:To reduce a lamp flicker by controlling the mercury vapor pressure in the tube with amalgam within a proper range. CONSTITUTION:Since a metal body 23 for forming amalgam is sealed in a luminous tube 10, this metal body 23 forms amalgam by being bound with excessive mercury. Thereby, even if a fluorescent lamp 8 is lit in a high-temperature atmosphere, by mercury vapor pressure in the tube is controlled nearly within a proper range, thus the restriking voltage of arc is suppressed low. Accordingly, the rest period of the lamp current is decreased. Moreover, the peak value of the lamp current is also decreased, and a lamp flicker is reduced and the flicker is made inconspicuous. |
