A method of sealing fabric along a pre-determined contour consists of first placing on the outside of the fabric material a thermoplastic mono-filament located over the contour line and thereafter applying heat and pressure to the monofilament to cause fusion thereof and encapsulation of the fabric material within the fused mass of monofilament material. The method may be used to inhibit unravelling along the edge of a piece of fabric and can be applied to fabric composed entirely of thermoplastic material as well as non-thermoplastic material and mixtures thereof. Two monofilaments, one on each side, may be used. |
