PURPOSE:To protect exactly a tape so that the tape is not damaged, and also it does not occur that dust adheres to the tape or a hand touches it, when a turning cover is closed, by pinching the tape by the turning cover, when the tape is contained into a cassette from a tape drawn-out state and the turning cover is opened and closed. CONSTITUTION:One side face part 13 of a flat tape cassette 6 becoms an opening part lacked wall surface, and tape 7 can be drawn out to the outside from this side face part 13. When the cassette is not used yet, the tape 7 is supported pivotally in a position of the rear part of the side face part 13 having the opening part, and pinched by the first turning conver 14 for convering the opening part, and the second turning cover 26 which is supported pivotally in a position 25 in the vicinity of the cassette opening part and freely turnable. When use of the cassette is discontinued, a tape drawing-out member is taken out to the outside of the cassette from a space area 33, and a cover pushing-up means is lowered, by which the first turning cover 14 is turned with a spring so as to cover the front of the tape 7, and by interlocking with it, the second turning cover 26 is turned so as to cover the rear face of the tape 7.
