PURPOSE:To simplify the constitution by connecting an MR element and a conductive path generating a bias magnetic field given to the MR element in series and using a detecting current source to the MR element and a bias current source to obtain the bias magnetic field in common so as to decrease the number of power sources and number of terminals. CONSTITUTION:The conductive path 3 to give a bias magnetic field to the MR element 5 is connected in series with the MR element 5 in each magnetic head element (h). That is, one terminal 3b of the conductive path 3 and one terminal 5a of the MR element connected thereupon via an insulation layer are connected electrically through a contact window holed to the insulation layer 4 (not shown), power terminals ta and tb are led respectively from the other end 3a of the conductive path 3 and the other end 5b of the MR element and a detection and bias current source is connected between the terminals ta and tb. |
