PURPOSE:To realize a large-capacity cache storage device by a relatively small amount of hardware and to improve the economic efficiency and reliability, etc. by constituting to change effective capacity per set of cache storage device according to page size. CONSTITUTION:A cache data section 5 is so constituted that the capacity per set is larger than the minimum value of page size and smaller than the maximum value. A cache directory section 4 is so made that it includes higher bits of all real addresses for which dynamic address conversion is executed when the minimum value of page size is selected. A cache address changeover circuit 31 cuts off or enlarges the address bit of lower bits of logical addresses for which dynamic address conversion is not executed, and determines the number of bits that corresponds to capacity per set. The cache directory section is retrieved by an output of the cache address changeover circuit 31. |
