In the rotating magnet which is provided with at least one energising coil, a magnet body having at least one single-poled pole shoe and an armature which has the same polarity as the magnet body, the pole shoe of the magnet body and/or the pole of the armature has cross-sections which change in the circumferential direction, and the magnetic flux through the pole cross-sections which dictate the respective rotation-angle position is determined as a function of the rotation angle of the armature. Torque characteristics which are variable within wide limits can be implemented as a function of the design of the change of the effective pole cross-sections.
