PURPOSE:To minimize the error after equalization by optimizing the arrangement of a tap coefficient of a transversal filter corresponding to an impulse response by comparing absolute values of the tap coefficients to correct malfunctions for initial setting of the arrangement of tap coefficients. CONSTITUTION:Only a changeover switch, e.g., S1 is connected to a signal input (a) by control of a comparison and switch controlling circuit C1 among changeover switches S1, S2.... Then, the switches S1, S2... are connected to the input of data delay registers 21, 22..., one of the inputs of the changeover switches is taken as an output of a delay register of the pre-stage of the registers 22, 23... and one input of the switch of the register 21 of the most pre-stage is taken as an output of the delay register of the last stage. Further, the remaining switches not connected to the input position of the automatic equalizer among the switches S1, S2... are connected to the output of the delay register of the pre-stage. Then, the delay tap corresponding to the delay register having the maximum absolute value is controlled to be the center of all the delay taps or so that the difference between the absolute value of the tap coefficient of the most pre-stage and the stage at the vicinity of the last stage is minimized. |
