PURPOSE:To raise recording density by obtaining a converted code sequence in which a ''0'' code of five pieces through 19 pieces between a ''1'' code and a ''1'' code, when one data word is constituted of 3-bit, and it is converted to a code word of 9-bit. CONSTITUTION:When a binary digital signal sequence for showing an information is converted to a code sequence of a form suitable for a magnetic recording, first of all, the binary digital signal sequence inputted in series is separated into 3-bit each. Subsequently, with respect to the separated data word, data patterns of a data work (b) to be converted at present, a data word (a) previous by one continuing from said word, and the following two words (c), (d) are monitored, and a code word conversion of 9-bit shown in the table is executed with respect to the data word (b). Next, with respect to a code word X of this 9-bit, a data pattern of a prescribed bit of a connecting part to a code word Y previous by one, which constitutes a code word train is monitored, and a code conversion shown in the table is executed.
