PURPOSE:To save labor in manufacturing process and to obtain a stainless steel strip excellent in its surface properties by winding up a hot rolled stainless steel strip at a specific temperature, then descaling, cold rolling, and finally annealing it successively. CONSTITUTION:A stainless steel of 17% Cr or 18% Cr- 8% Ni, etc. is hot rolled, and is wound up at <=650 deg.C material temperature. This hot rolled strip is descaled by a prescribed method without subjecting it to annealing. Then the strip is finally annealed in the atomosphere after cold rolling it directly. By this method, the grooves of crystal boundary corrosion are not generated after descaling, and surface defects are not observed after cold rolling, and a stainless steel strip excellent in surface gloss is obtained. |
