For making the endless connections in conveyor belts having two fabric reinforcing inserts, DIN 22121 is legally binding. To satisfy the demands, increased with the use of especially low-stretch two-ply belts, as regards the bending behaviour of the connection points, along with a high tensile strength and a uniform belt thickness, the invention provides a novel overlap design of the fabric plies assigned to the two belt ends, the intermediate rubber being completely removed in the connection region and the fabric ends butting flush against one another being laid onto one another in the middle of the belt. The butt joints offset relative to one another in the longitudinal direction are advantageously covered with additional stretchable fabric strips. The invention prevents the occurrence of stress peaks, otherwise leading to premature detachment, in the respective outer fabric ply when the connection points run round the driving and deflecting pulleys of the conveyor installations, and therefore results in substantially longer service lives.
