PURPOSE:To prepare 1,1,1,2-tetrachloro-2,2,-difluoroethane in high selectivity, by using a catalytic system obtained by blending zirconium tetrachloride with an organic basic substance, disproportioning the titled compound in a liquid phase. CONSTITUTION:In disproportionation of 1,1,2-trichloro-1,2,2-trifluoroethane, zirconium tetrachloride is used as an acid catalyst, of a catalytic system obtained by blending it with 0.1-20wt% organic basic substance such as triethylamine, pyridine, methanol, nitroethane, dimethylformamide, etc. as a catalyst auxiliary based on zirconium tetrachloride, is used and the reaction is carried out to give 1,1,1,2-tetrachloro-2,2-difluoroethane. USE:A stable heat accumulative medium and an intermediate for synthesizing trifluoroacetic acid, etc. |
