The invention relates to a device for controlling the damping medium in dependence on the ink profile on an inking unit of offset printing machines having a hydrophilic measuring roller which communicates with one of the inking rollers, having a measuring device for the section-wise determination of the wetting by the damping medium on the outer surface of the measuring roller, and having a control part for the section-wise variation of the proportion of the damping medium in the ink film so that, in addition to the ordinary zone-wise regulation of the damping medium in the damping unit, an additional control of the quantity of damping medium contained in the ink is carried out in the region of the inking unit.
