PURPOSE:To prevent the adhesion of scales to a water level detecting strip and to avoid a bad influence due to the rising of waves in the surface of water in a water tank by a method wherein the water level detecting strip is fixed to the inside of a protection cylinder. CONSTITUTION:In case where water is stored in the water tank 4 of a humidifier 1 up to a proper level, when infrared ray lamps 15 are lighted up by turning a main switch ON, the stored water 5 applied with infrared rays from the lamps 15 begins to vaporize from the surface thereof. Then, when the level of the water in the water tank 4 lowers down to a predetermined position due to vaporization, the conduction of electric current between a low water level detecting rod 10(3) and the protective cylinder 11 is interrupted so that a feed water control valve 12 is opened and additional water is supplied into the water tank 4. Thus, when the water in the tank 4 reaches a predetermined level, a high water level detecting rod 10(4) and the protective cylinder 11 become electrically conductive, the feed water control valve is closed. |
