PURPOSE:To enable a pasty kneaded matter to be packed into a porous metallic member efficiently in almost the same state as initially prepared by suppressing the quantity of air contaminating the pasty kneaded matter and spraying it from both sides of the porous metallic member. CONSTITUTION:A pasty kneaded matter which is prepared beforehand and consists of an active material powder, a conductive powder and a binding agent is stirred so as to disperse the powdery matters homogeneously. At the same time, it is supplied to nozzles 3 and 4 through a highly airtight pump and a sealed transfer route. The amount of air contaminating the pasty kneaded matter at the end of the nozzle is restricted to below 10vol% under ordinary pressure. While a belt-like porous metallic member 2 used as an electrode base body is vertically placed and moved in a horizontal direction, a paste 1 is packed into the porous member 2 by spraying it from the nozzles 3 and 4 placed facing each other on both sides of the porous member 2. |
