Compositions, for the treatment of gastrointestinal orders, comprising: (a) a pharmaceutically-acceptable bismuth salt, at a level of from about 1.5% to about 5.0%; (b) a magnesium aluminum silicate at a level M, of from about 0.3% to about 1.3%; (c) a xanthan gum at a level X, of from about 0.5% to about 0.85%; and (d) water, at a level of from about 90,0% to about 97.5%, wherein M + 5X is from about 3.6% to about 4.6% and M X is from about 0.5 to about 2.2. Bismuth subsalicylate is a preferred bismuth salt. |
