PURPOSE:To smoothly perform cake discharge, by a method wherein the upper end of filter cloth is clamped by a hanging and holding bar while the lower part thereof is wrapped around a roller and the filter cloth is run and driven upwardly and downwardly between successively opened filter plates. CONSTITUTION:In removing the cake generated between each filter cloths, each filter plate 5 is successively moved toward a clamping head from one in the vicinity of the clamping head to successively open the space between each filter plates 5. Every when each filter plates 5 are opened, the drive apparatus 30 of a filter hanging and holding bar 12 is moved upwardly between the opened filter plates 5 to move said filter cloth hanging and holding bar 12. Subsequently, the rod 34 of a cylinder 33 is extended to be fallen to the height of the filter cloth hanging and holding bar 12 in such a state that each pair of arms 38 are opened and the space the arms 33 is closed to catch the bar 12. When the rod 34 is extended in this state, the filter cloth 11 changes its direction in the parts trained around rollers 14, 15 toward such a direction that the filter cloths 11a, 11b are mutually spaced apart in the mutually opposed surfaces thereof and, therefore, the cake on the filter cloth is peeled off.
