An aligning and/or stabilising element is to be used on border or edge parts of windows or doors, in particular of the swing or folding type, which have become warped or deformed as a result of different temperature influences so that they can be adjusted to and closed compactly against the frame rebate. For this purpose, the strip-shaped aligning and/or stabilising element (2) is equipped in the edge region of the door or the window with link segments (3) which have horizontal stud-bolts which are provided with threaded nuts (10) by means of which said segments can be pushed apart in the longitudinal direction of the element (2) in accordance with the size of the required correction and at the same time brought into the original planar configuration of the door/window and then clamped in position. <IMAGE>
