<p>PURPOSE:To improve power source utilization and image quality, by a method wherein a heating element for one row is split into a plurality of pieces, and a heat-sensitive head is so placed that the pitch of the rows becomes an integer times of dot pitch. CONSTITUTION:The heating resistors 19, 20 split into M rows are provided on the heat-sensitive recording heat at a pitch of N times or (N+1/M) times (N is an integer) of the recording dot pitch P. Each time the positional relationship of the head and a recording paper is moved by 1 pitch or 1/M pitch in a direction perpendicular to the line of the heating elements, the split heating element rows are sequentially driven by one row at a time by passing an electric current. Accordingly, the quantity of electric power required for recording is reduced, a rise in temperature due to flow of heat from the adjacent heating elements is prevented, a reduction in density due to the effect of the gaps between the heating elements is prevented, and print quality is enhanced.</p> |
