PURPOSE:To facilitate an easy production of a record reproducing stylus with use of a small number of expensive diamonds, by forming a chip member of diamond, etc. approximately into a rectangular parallelepiped and adhering the holding member having lower hardness than the chip member on a single or both sides of the chip member to perform polishing. CONSTITUTION:A crystal of diamond, etc. having high hardness is sliced into a thin plate to obtain a chip part 1 of approximately a parallelepiped. This part 1 is adhered to the holding members 2 and 2a which are processed into parallelepipeds from artificial sapphire, an aluminum alloy, seramics, etc. Then the chip part is cut in a direction 7 orthogonal to the longitudinal directions of members 2 and 2a. Both member 1 and members 2 and 2a are polished at a time. As a result, the contact surface to a record groove 6 is formed into a line contact shape. |
