PURPOSE:To obtain a small-size printer having lesser amounts of component parts and capable of performing exact printing by using a system in which the moving and separation of a printing head from a recording paper and the feeding of the paper are performed by one drive source. CONSTITUTION:A printing head 32 is provided to a carriage 30 screwed with a threaded shaft 29 to be normally to inversely turned by a drive motor 28. A platen holder 20 attached with a platen 21 is rotatably provided under the condition that it is given a rotatability by a spring 23 in such a way as to pressingly contact it with the printing head 32 side. Paper feeding rollers 24 are provided to the shaft 22 for the platen holder 20, and an one-way clutch 35 by which the platen holder 20 is integrated with the shaft 22 when the platen holder 20 is turned toward the direction of being separated from the printing head 32 is provided between the platen holder 20 and the shaft 22. When the carriage 30 moves to at least one end of the platen holder 20, a coupler 27 is coupled with a projection 33 provided to the carriage and turns the platen holder 20 in the direction of being separated from the printing head 32. |
