PURPOSE:To provide a thermal head low in power consumption and carrying out high speed and high quality printing, obtained by a method wherein a heat conductive insulator is interposed between plural heat generating resistors formed on a substrate and heat insulating electrode conductors low in heat conductivity are interposed between the electrode conductors and the heat generating resistors. CONSTITUTION:A heat conductive insulator 10 used in electrical separation and high in heat conductivity comprising beryllia pottery or the like is interposed between plural heat generating resistors 12 formed on a substrate 13 and, in passing a current through the heat generating resistors 12, heat insulating electrode conductors 8, 9 having heat conductivity lower than that of electrode conductors 14, 15 are interposed between the electrode conductors 14, 15 and the heat generating resistors 12. By this mechanism, printing dots due to the heat generating resistors are connected and heat diffusion to the sides of the current supplied electrode conductors can be prevented while the heat generating resistors can be accurately developed in color by small power. |
